‌The Legacy Tavares Wedding Venue: A Complete Guide

Most couples find The Legacy Tavares wedding venue the same way. Someone sends them a photo of stained glass, and they want to know what the building actually is.

So this page answers that in full. The history, all four spaces, real 2026 pricing, capacity, vendor rules, and how booking works.

‌Why the Name

The full name is The Legacy at Church Hill Center, and both halves mean something.

Church Hill refers to what this corner of downtown Tavares was called, because the building went up here as a church in 1923. It served that role for most of a century. Then Gene Smith bought it at 96 years old.

He did not hand the restoration to a contractor and walk away. Instead, five of his children and several grandchildren worked on it with him. His children run the venue today, which is where the word Legacy comes from. That story sits in full on our About page and in the original press release.

The restoration kept what mattered. Original stained glass, stained wood accents, and the proportions of the sanctuary all survived. Meanwhile the systems got replaced, so the building runs on modern air conditioning, modern electrical, and updated finishes.

‌The Four Spaces

Every booking includes all four. No room here carries an upcharge, which is unusual in this market.

‌Heirloom Chapel

The original sanctuary, and the reason most couples tour. Restored stained glass filters the Florida sun into something photographers genuinely want. Ceremonies happen here, although it also serves as the indoor rain backup for outdoor plans. Read more on the Heirloom Chapel page.

‌Centennial Reception Hall

The largest space and the anchor of the building. Gleaming floors, rich stained wood, and a large adjoining kitchen so caterers can actually work. Dinner and dancing happen here. See the Centennial Reception Hall page for detail.

‌Lineage Lounge

An intimate room carrying the same finishes as the main hall. It works for cocktail hour, rehearsal dinners, showers, or business meetings. It also contains both getting-ready suites. The groom’s quarters include a kitchenette, which makes serving refreshments simple. More sits on the Lineage Lounge page.

‌Palms Patio

The outdoor space, built around towering palms, landscaping, and a fountain. Cocktail hour and portraits happen here whenever weather cooperates.

‌Capacity and Fit

The Legacy Tavares wedding venue seats up to 100 guests. That number is deliberate rather than a limitation.

Estate properties nearby host 300 or more, but they usually get there by requiring preferred vendors and running multiple events. Here, you book the whole building and we run one event at a time.

Consequently, couples with guest lists under 100 get an entire historic property to themselves.

‌What Comes Included

  • Access to the entire venue, including bridal suite and groom’s quarters
  • Twelve 6-foot round tables and six 6-foot rectangular tables, with ivory or black linens available for the rectangles
  • Three cocktail tables, chairs, gold arches, and easels
  • An onsite venue manager for your whole event
  • 1.5 hours of rehearsal, scheduled 30 days ahead
  • Free parking, air conditioning, and handicap accessibility
  • Stage, A/V equipment, and sound system

Because tables, chairs, and linens come included, most couples skip rental companies entirely. That alone saves $1,500 to $2,500 at this guest count.

‌Vendors, Policies, and the Rules That Matter

Open vendor policy.

Bring your own caterer, florist, DJ, and photographer. Caterers must be licensed and insured, although no approved list restricts you otherwise.

Bar service.

A professional bartender is required, and bar vendors must be licensed and insured.

Insurance.

Event liability coverage runs through GatherGuard.

Setup and breakdown.

Both fit inside your booked block, so plan those hours when choosing between six and twelve.

Decor timing.

Items arrive and leave during your block. We do not store or transport decor.

Pets.

Service animals only.

Special effects get real latitude here. Cold sparks, sparkler exits, fog, dancing on a cloud, confetti cannons, bubble machines, and open flame in holders are all permitted. Draping is allowed on a freestanding stand or frame, although nothing may be taped or tacked to walls or ceilings. Full policies live on our FAQ page.

‌The Rain Plan

Staff check the forecast two hours before ceremony start time. If rain looks likely, the ceremony moves into the chapel. Since the chapel already belongs to your booking, that move costs nothing and adds no logistics.

‌Beyond Weddings

The Legacy Tavares wedding venue hosts more than ceremonies. Birthday parties, business meetings, showers, quinceañeras, and celebrations of life all work here, and special rates apply to individual rooms. Just contact us with your date and headcount.

‌Location and Logistics

The Legacy at Church Hill Center sits at 311 N Joanna Ave, Tavares, FL 32778, in the downtown core. Downtown Orlando runs about 40 minutes, MCO about an hour, and Mount Dora roughly ten minutes.

Parking is free and onsite, which matters more than couples expect. Handle your marriage license early too. Florida sets the rules statewide, so you apply through the clerk in the county where you reside, and Lake County residents can start with the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court.
